Photographer Eduardo Leal won 3rd place in “Fine Art Series” category, attributed by LensCulture – Earth Awards 2015, with the series “Plastic Trees”, focusing on environmental impact of plastic bags on the Bolivian Altiplano.

Photographer Miguel Veterano Junior recently published on the portuguese edition of weekly newspaper “Expresso” , in an article entitled “Sons of chemotherapy”, that tells the story of three pregnant women, who discovered during pregnancy, they were suffering from cancer.
António Pedrosa Wins Three Awards with “The Pose And The Prey” Photo Essay
“The Pose and the prey”, the photo essay of Antonio Pedrosa won the PDN Photo Annual 2015 in “sports” category, also with the same photo essay he won a Second place “sports singles” POY LATAM and Third place in “sports series” in POY LATAM.
The photo essay on the hunting industry in Portugal, is the result of months of work in the Alentejo region, documenting the various types of hunt of medium and large animals, in the region of the country with wider range hunting. It is the result of work done in 2013 and 2014, after the author had won a intership of Estação Imagem – the only entity in Portugal to organize an annual international award for photojournalism.
António Pedrosa is photojournalist since 1996.
In 2012 he was a finalist of the awarded scholarship by Manuel Rivera Ortiz Foundation, and winner of the 2012 Photojournalism Estação Imagem Award with the article “Iraq”.
In 2013 he was appointed to the Hasselblad Masters Award. The following year he won the “Editorial Category” the Hasselblad Masters 2014 prize.
New Project From António Luís Campos : Crónicas da Atlântida – Açores | 9 Ilhas | 9 Meses
The new project from photographer António Luís Campos, entitled Chronicles of Atlantis – Azores | 9 Islands | 9 Months, arises from the fact that the Azores are a territory full of opportunities for the development of quality sustainable and unique tourism, but very little-publicized.
With the support of Nomad.pt and having National Geographic Portugal as media partner, the photographer will be travelling by 9 islands, over two years, photographing the scenery and the costumes of Azorean people.The project website will reveal a picture a day, an island a month, from largest to smallest, from east to west, over 9 months. A daily gallery-page will be updated and it will become a regular presence from which will be managed this project. Simultaneously there will be a presence in social networks Facebook and Instagram, where the chronics and travel notes will be developed alongside to photography, amplifying the impact of the journey and conquering the loyalty of readers.At the end of 2015 the project will enter a new phase with the publication of a book with text and photography fields that will include online multimedia slideshows. It will be then produced an installation / multimedia exhibition, accompanied by lectures on the project.

BRUNO SIMÕES CASTANHEIRA WINS “ESTAÇÃO DE IMAGEM” GRAND AWARD:
Photographer Bruno Simões Castanheira won, this weekend, the most prestigious photojournalim award in Portugal. It’s the second time Bruno gets the Grand Prize, this year with a story about the portuguese economic crisis. In 2013 he had win with another story on austerity, but in Greece.

Eduardo Leal was also awarded in “Estação de Imagem” with a series “Plastic Trees”, focusing on the spreading of the plastic bags on the Bolivian Altiplano, where millions of bags travel with the wind until they got entangled in native bushes, damaging the beautiful landscapes.
The award, which goes on its sixth edition, is already an inevitable reference, not only due to a significant participation by professionals, as also by bringing together, every year, a jury composed of prestigious personalities in the international photojournalism scene. This year the jury was composed by Maria Mann (EPA), Yannis Behrakis (Reuters), Ruth Eichhorn (GEO), Horacio Villalobos (Corbis) and Elena Boille (Internazionale).

Peter Pereira – Photographer Of The Year For The Seventh Time
Peter Pereira was once again, for the seventh time in 10 years, elected Photographer of the Year. This distinction was Presented by the New England Newspaper & Press Association, United States.
The prize Photographer New England year, includes six US states, of the National Press Photographers Association, an organization representing all photojournalists of the country.
SOBRE|VIVER – Amazon, Bolívia : A Multimedia Project
Photographer António Luís Campos was one of the mentors of the documentary project SOBRE|VIVER Amazon – Bolívia. A project, made possible with cooperation of Nomad.pt and National Geographic Portugal as media partner.
An alliance between photography, video and audio, served as support to the participants (Tiago Costa, Inácio Roseira, Eduardo Madeira and António Luís Campos), to document a 1000 kilometers crossing by boat, along Beni river, Amazon (Bolívia).
Through a multidisciplinary approach, has been portrayed the daily life of small communities living on the banks of Beni river, away from civilization, next to an unspoiled Nature, in its purest state; People living a social and economic paradigm that challenges the conventions prevailing in the Western world.
The chapters of this journey resulted in a website, where it is possible to experience this adventure with sharpened senses.
