Berlin was divided again from 7-9 November 2014: 8000 white, shining balloons marked the former course of the Berlin wall from the Bornholmer Strasse, the Mauerpark and the memorial site Bernauer Strasse to the Reichstag, past Brandenburg Gate and Checkpoint Charlie to the East Side Gallery – a light border.
On 9 November – the 25th anniversary of the fall of the Berlin wall – the balloons flew to the sky. The emotional and visual power of this light installation brought the brutality of the wall to mind.
Several laif-photographers photographically captured the light border at different places in Berlin.
